Nebbiolo
Nebbiolo is an Italian red wine grape variety best known for producing the Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita (DOCG) wines of Barolo, Barbaresco, Roero, Gattinara, Carema, and Ghemme. Nebbiolo is thought to be named after the Italian nebbia or Piedmontese nebia, which means "fog." During harvest, which usually takes place in October, a dense fog descends on the Langhe region, which is home to many Nebbiolo vineyards. Alternative explanations include the fog-like glaucous veil that forms over the berries as they mature, or the name is derived from the Italian word nobile, which means noble.
