Carlo
Giacosa

Carlo Giacosa is located in the Italian province of Cuneo (Barbaresco). The average annual output of the Carlo Gausa winery is 35,000-38,000 bottles, and the yearly production of each wine remains around 4,000-6,000 bottles; among them, Barbaresco Narin and Barbaresco Montefico have only 50 bottles of more than 3 liters. This limited production method allows the wines of Carlo Giacosa winery to maintain good quality and become more valuable in the market. In 1968, Donato Giacosa established Carlo Gausa Winery, a small family-run winery. Carlo and his wife Carla inherited the Carlo Gausa winery. Carlo has been developing the winery for many years, dedicated to producing the best and highest quality wines. Until now, the fourth generation Giacosa inherited the Carlo Gausa winery. Carlo Gausa winery has 5 hectares of vineyards, all located in the province of Cuneo, mainly planted with local grape varieties Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Dolcetto. The wines produced by the winery are all Top Wine/Fine Wine and the only wineries that produce Nebbiolo and local grapes, using traditional brewing methods and never using chemical fertilizers.

Nebbiolo

Nebbiolo is an Italian red wine grape variety best known for producing the Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita (DOCG) wines of Barolo, Barbaresco, Roero, Gattinara, Carema, and Ghemme. Nebbiolo is thought to be named after the Italian nebbia or Piedmontese nebia, which means "fog." During harvest, which usually takes place in October, a dense fog descends on the Langhe region, which is home to many Nebbiolo vineyards. Alternative explanations include the fog-like glaucous veil that forms over the berries as they mature, or the name is derived from the Italian word nobile, which means noble.
